3rd Youth Leadership Summit held

Lingayen – Over a thousand student leaders from several schools in the second congressional district convened for the 3rd Youth Leadership Summit and Commitment last November 21 at the Sison Auditorium, Capitol Compound here.
In his speech, Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III shared his 16 years of experience in local governance to the budding Pangasinense leaders in all school levels.
“As someone who had been a youth just like you, I have only this piece of advice: carry with you your love for yourselves, your future, your family and your province,” the provincial chief executive said.

The governor exhorted the youth to foster respect and adherence to their parents, in honor of their hardships in raising and providing a decent living and quality education for them.
He even exemplified how he cherishes the immense improvement Pangasinan enjoys now through the efforts of the former governor and now the 5th District Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr.
For them to secure a bright future, the governor encouraged the youngsters and teenagers to explore opportunities while honing their talents and abilities.
He, however, warned them that they must observe moral limitations to avoid falling into dire circumstances and issues currently plaguing the youth—teenage pregnancy and pre-marital sex.
Gov. Espino then left a commitment as a challenge for the student leaders to apply: “What I ask of you is a commitment to your parents and your family. Be grateful to your parents. Express how you love them everyday.”
Prior to the governor’s speech, a well-applauded audio-visual presentation dubbed as “Mga Gintong Pamana ni Dating Gobernador Amado T. Espino, Jr.” took the students to a throwback of the milestones the province has achieved during the watch of the former governor.
Aside from Gov. Espino, the student leaders also heard powerful, motivational talks from high-ranking provincial government chiefs of office and employees.
Participants were able to glimpse on public health management through presentations from Lingayen District Hospital (LDH) chief Athena Marie Merrera, “Our Journey as a Bridging Leader in LDH Interlocal Health Zone ,” and Assistant Provincial Health Officer Cielo Almoite, “Strengthening Public Health Services Down to the Grassroots Level.”
Internal Auditor Louie Ocampo of the Human Resources Management and Development Office tackled “Enhancing the Leadership Skills of Youth Leaders” based on the Pangasinan Development Thrust and Core Values.
Public Health Coordinator Valerie Tigno concluded the event with her message.
Selected student leader groups were also given the floor to present their commitment and action plans for the province.
At the end of the program, the participants recited the I Love Pangasinan Pledge of Commitment.
