16-year old, four others nabbed

RAMPANT DRUG PEDDLING

LINGAYEN–A 16-year-old student was arrested by the police in Umingan town for  peddling illegal drugs in Barangay Caurdanetaan, Umingan at 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 17, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) reported.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Rafael Abrena of Barangay Poblacion East, Umingan who sold one sachet of methampethamine hydrochloride or shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

The suspect was arrested upon receiving the marked money of P500 from the poseur-buyer.

The Umingan police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1, effected the buy-bust operation following a tip they received from a Limbat-Sibat volunteer.

A case for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared against the suspect.

However, being a minor, he will be likely turned over by the court to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Also arrested on Nov. 17 in Barangay Palong, Malasiqui was Joel de Vera, alias “Manok”, 45, tagged by the police as a high-value target on illegal drugs by the Malasiqui Police Station, from whom three sachets of shabu were seized.

Raymund Santos, alias “Idol”, 26, another drug personality was arrested on the same day in Barangay Poblacion, Binmaley.  He was nabbed after selling one sachet of shabu to a police undercover.

In Urdaneta City, Diosdado Paras, alias “Bong”, 25, a drug personality on the police watch list as pusher and user, was arrested at Zone 6 in Barangay Nancayasan, Urdaneta. He was found in possession of 0.105 grams of shabu that he was selling to a poseur-buyer for P2,000.

Also nabbed at Barangay Baguinay, Manaoag, was Joenald Lopez, 30, after he sold one plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride to an Intelligence operative who acted as poseur -buyer.

Mervin Quebada, 44, a businessman and a newly identified drug personality, was arrested in Barangay Balingasay, Bolinao when policemen served a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Judge Mervin Samadan Jr. in his house in Barangay Balingasay, Bolinao.

Seized from his house were 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, five empty transparent plastic sachets with residue of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, four crumpled aluminum foil and one lighter. (Leonardo Micua)
