Meanwhile. a call-for-entry was announced by DICT- ICTO office for the 2016 Philippines Startup Challenge.
According to Ed Casulla, head of the Metro Dagupan ICT-ICTO, the deadline for the challenge is October 16, 2016.
The Philippine Startup Challenge is a startup competition, which aims to encourage and inspire college students to create innovative and relevant technology that may also be viable as business ventures.
The initiative is geared towards promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship in ICT among the youth and also to ensure the continuous creation of investible ideas and startup founders.
This is not the first that DICT-ICTO (DOST-ICTO then) reached out to the Metro Dagupan Information and Communication Technology Council. It already engaged colleges and universities in Pangasinan two years ago.
MDICT members attended the Lean Startup training in Baguio City to be certified as “Startup Mentors” led by Francis Fernandez, MDICT founding president.
A Startup Weekend was also held in Lingayen, led by Vanj Padilla of Pangasinan ICT to create awareness. Various Junior ICT councils were organized to get more students interested in joining the Philippine Startup Challenge.
Last year, there were no entries from Pangasinan. MDICT-ICTO hopes to send entries this year.
