PSU acts to revise its OJT program
AFTER anomalies surfaced in the implementation of policies of Pangasinan State University’s (PSU) on-the-job-trainings (OJT) for graduating students, PSU president Dexter Buted said a more transparent policy will be in place to protect the students.
Buted admitted there were loopholes in the old system before he took over.
He said under the old system, only the campus executive and the referral agency knew the content of the memorandum of agreement regulating PSU’s OJT program.
Under the new policy, Buted said the PSU president must be involved in the crafting of any policy that will be adopted for the OJT program.
Meanwhile, the Board of Regents directed Buted not to attend any future hearing that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will conduct on the issue.
The provincial board is still investigating the complaint filed by one of the 43 students who reported for OJT at a pharmaceutical company in Laguna province last year.
Buted said that the lone complainant was used by his detractors to destroy his credibility and don’t really have any concern about improving PSU’s policies for the betterment of its students. (Nora Dominguez)
