21 drug pushers, users nabbed

ONE-TIME, BIG-TIME OPERATION

TWENTY-ONE drug pushers and users were arrested by the Dagupan police in separate parts of the city on the night of September 20 till 21 when they implemented One-Time Big-Time Operation against illegal drugs.

P/Superintendent Niel Miro, acting chief of police said the suspects that included women, were arrested in 13 simultaneous buy-bust operations and six through the service of search warrants.

cartoonnews-160925He said the ‘One-time, Big-time’ operation was conducted in Bonuan Boquig, Bonuan Binloc, Mayombo, Pantal and Barangay II and III.

He admitted that two of the search warrants turned out negative.

Miro, who led all the operations, said he could not release all the names of the suspects and the street vaue of illegal drugs seized until the documentation is completed.

Miro presented all the 22 suspects to the media in a press conference on Sept. 21 at the City Police Station attended by Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, Pangasinan police community relations officer, Supt. Nesto Cusi, officer-in-charge of the San Carlos City police; and Senior Inspector Fernando Abacco Jr., chief of police of San Jacinto.

The recent arrests brought the number of drug pushers and users arrested from July 1 to Sep 21 this year to 68.

6 killings of drug suspects within 12 hours alarm Dagupenos

Meanwhile, six alleged suspected drug personalities were gunned down and killed by unidentified gunmen in different parts of Dagupan City in a span of just 12 hours from September 20 till morning September 21, putting many residents sleepless and in nervous wreck.

Coincidentally during this span of time, the Dagupan City Police were implementing its ‘One Time, Big Time’ Operation which involved buy-bust operations and the serving of search warrants.

Found dead at 9:35 p.m. of Sept. 20 on Guilig Street in Pogo Chico was Salvador Bulatao, alias “Magno, who was shot by Motorcycle-Riding Criminals (MRCs) in different parts of his body while standing at Brigette & Charles Bakery.

At 12: 40 a.m. of Sept. 21, one Boyet Pangan was found dead lying along the road side of Judge Jose de Venecia Expressway in Barangay Pantal with gunshot wounds on the head.

One Jimbo Callanta of Pantal was also found dead at 12:57 a,m. of September 21 along Gaudencio Road in Malued with gunshot wound in the back.

Meanwhile, one Eddie Meneses was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at 12:50 a.m. of Sept. 21 while he was on board his owner-type jeep heading towards Sitio Bliss in Bonuan Binloc.

After that, Ramil Jimenez was found dead with gunshot wound in the back and head along the De Venecia Highway Express Extension in Barangay Lucao, near the U-turn section.

The last victim at 9:00 a.m. of September 21, Joseph Tuates, 46, a passenger jeepney driver, had just taken his breakfast at a carinderia in Bonuan Tondaligan when he was shot four times by unidentified armed men riding on a motorcycle without a plate number.

When asked to comment about these simultaneous killings, Supt. Neil Miro, chief of police of Dagupan City, said the common denominator of all the six victims is, they were drug pushers or were involved in illegal drugs.

Clarifying that policemen had nothing to do with any of these killings, Miro said they have placed all these under investigation as with other shooting incidents that happened in the city in the past. (Leonardo Micua)
