MANGALDAN — The municipal council here holds its regular sessions in Filipino language this month of August in observance of the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa.

Neophyte Councilor Aldrin Sorian, committee chairman of Education, who authored an approved resolution for this purpose, said Resolution No. 28 series of 2016 enjoins all educational institution and government offices in the municipality of Mangaldan to continue supporting the national government’s campaign and strengthen Filipino as language of intellectual discourse.

The town’s Monday flag raising ceremony also uses the Filipino language as medium since the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that the Government shall take steps to initiate and sustain the use of Filipino as medium of official communication.

“This will enable us to practice and enrich our national language in intellectual discourse such as during the sessions in the Sanggunian and even during the programs in the municipality,” Mr. Soriano said.

He added that discussions and crafting laws in the municipal council using the national language would be more engaging, more productive and participative among its members. (Tita Roces)
