Guv Espino Hails Farmers, Fisherfolks

GOVERNOR Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III paid tribute to farmers and fisherfolks all over the country as he spoke at the Governor’s Night of the P4MP/MS/IPs 16th National Congress at Dagupan Village Hotel, Dagupan City on the event’s first day last August 22.
“It is an honor to speak in front of hard working individuals like you. I admire how the poem Magtanim ay Di Biro underscores your diligence in providing food for every Filipino. You embody it,” he said.
The provincial chief executive also noted that he cherished spending his 53rd day in office with the foremost innovators of the agri-science industry in the country.
He took pride in recalling his predecessor, now Representative Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., who spent his nine years of service as governor for implementing immense improvements on the agricultural sector in Pangasinan, which the younger Espino vowed to sustain.
Also, he urged the participants to make the forum as a venue to exchange best practices so the whole country would benefit most from it.
In the preceding opening program, Provincial Agriculturist’s Officer-in-Charge Dalisay Moya presented the agricultural milestones the province has achieved, especially the initiatives the provincial government has started, leading to its receiving the National Rice Achievers Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and National Corn Achievers Award in 2013 and 2014.
P4MP/MS/IPs stands for the Pambansang Mananalon, Maguuma, Magbabaul, Magsasaka ng Pilipinas/ Magsasaka Siyentista/Indigenous Peoples, which respective representatives from the 16 regions of the country were gathered by the umbrella sub-agency Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) to this annual assembly.
USec Dilangalen lauded in her keynote speech the well-maintained farm fields of the province that mirrors the Pangasinense farmers’ diligence and sense of responsibility in their niche, which anchors the province in its present position as the third biggest rice producer in the country. /RMCL
