Brgy Binloc drug trade still active
By Bebot Villar
IT looks like there is still no serious effort to stop the illegal drug trade in Brgy Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan City, in spite of all the things I have written in this corner!
According to our sources, drug users and pushers still abound in that favorite barangay of ours, actively engaged in the use, sale and distribution of shabu! In fact, PDEA Regional Director Jeffrey Tacio included Bonuan Binloc as one of the major illegal drug hotspots in the region!
Bakit walang “mass surrender” of drug personalities in that barangay? Protected pa rin ba sila? By whom?

Former House Speaker Joe de Venecia and wife former Cong. Gina reside in your barangay!
Worse, the Regional Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center is also found in your barangay? Isn’t it ironic?

After releasing his so–called “narco list” to the general public that included politicians, magistrates and policemen, I think it is high time that the government cause the filing of cases against these people. Prosecuting them would let the public know that our President means business in his fight against illegal drugs.
Come to think of it: a year ago, we did not expect a scenario where the Chief Executive himself will divulge the identities of hoodlums in public service before the media! As the saying goes, “Strange things conspire when one tries to cheat fate!”
Let us not forget that our President is only staying true to his promise during the campaign period: that he will rid this country of criminality, corruption and illegal drugs. That is the promise that caused sixteen million Filipinos to vote for him as President!

We have seen the provincial government cause the mandatory drug testing of its employees in order to combat drug use and abuse in the workplace. The efforts of our provincial officials are laudable and should be emulated by our municipal and city governments para naman we can assure our constituents that those who serve them are drug–free!
Meantime, I would like to suggest another initiative to our provincial government. Let us look into our detention and jail facilities in the province baka naman we have a problem of drug dealing in these places!
We are not casting a shadow of doubt over the work ethic of our provincial jail authorities but I think the surprise inspection at Cebu Provincial Jail where they were able to confiscate cash worth almost 4.5 million pesos and 88 grams of shabu could be an indicator.
Aside from drug use and smuggling inside jails, the big problem here is that most syndicates run their illegal drug operations inside the prison walls! They think that they are more secured inside the prison rather than being on the outside!

Let us support the program of our Pangasinan Provincial Police Office: Project DIGUNG which stands for “Droga’y Iwaksing Ganap, Upang baNsa’y mapayapang Ganap!”
This is a reward program which gives P5,000.00 cash for any information leading to the arrest of drug pushers in their respective localities!
