A GRATEFUL city government expressed its gratitude unabashedly to its chief of police who finally ended his tour of duty last Wednesday, August 3.

“We can never thank a hero enough!” summed up Mayor Belen T. Fernandez s farewell message to P/Superintendent Christopher N. Abrahano during the turnover of command ceremonies from him as chief of police of the Dagupan City Police Station to P/Superintendent Neil O. Miro whose appointment took effect on August 1.

“How must the city thank one who did more than his call of duty. How must I convey my utmost gratitude to one who performed more than my protector and enforcer of the laws. We can never thank him enough but we will always be inspired by the example he set,” said Mayor Fernandez during the turnover of command between the outgoing police chief and the incoming one.

She recalled how Abrahano as the people’s Top Cop always had “brilliant suggestions in order to make the city’s events grandiose, yet safe from harm.”

“Chris returned the citizenry’s faith in the police,” Ms. Fernandez added as she vowed to continue to have a good working relationship with the new police chief.

“To P/ Superintendent Miro, I may not know you yet, but I look forward to working with you. Let us start with what we desire, the people’s welfare and protection. May you be our next hero,” the mayor said.

The ceremony was also attended by OIC Provincial Director P/Senior Superintendent Ronald O. Lee who presided over the turnover of command from Abrahano to Miro.

In his message, Lee thanked Mayor Fernandez “for the overwhelming support of the city government to the Dagupan PNP” and congratulated Abrahano for making a difference in Dagupan.

“It’s hard to let go of a hardworking officer. Your remarkable accomplishment will serve as a lasting legacy to the people of Dagupan which shall forever be embedded in the halls of the Dagupan City Police Station to remind the next leadership of your achievements,” said Lee as he challenged to Miro to duplicate if not at least equal Abrahano’s accomplishments.

Miro hails from Mangatarem town. His last tour of duty was in Central Luzon with the Aviation Security.  (JCB_ CIO)
