Tayug’s top drug personality shot dead

TAYUG—A high-value target drug personality here was shot dead in his house in Barangay Carriedo by police operatives on July 13 when he reportedly fired shots at them before the warrants of arrest could be served.

Killed was Jaime Tolentino, a notorious drug pusher and the town’s top drug personality, who reportedly shot it out with the police team after refusing to surrender.

This prompted the raiding team from the Provincial Public Safety Company and Tayug Police Station to retaliate hitting the suspect.

P/Chief Inspector Marcos Anod, Tayug Chief of Police said Tolentino is second top drug personality in this town.

Tolentino was rushed to Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital here for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician.

Tolentino’s residence was already raided in February and several firearms were caught in his possession.

A case of violation of illegal possession of firearms was filed against him but he was freed from jail after he posted the P200,000 bail bond. He has pending case in court.

The operatives recovered at the crime scene one M26 fragmentation grenade, two fired cartridges for caliber 9mm, a deformed bullet, one Smith and Wesson caliber 38 loaded with three live ammunitions and one fired cartridge case.

Moreover, seized were five heat sealed sachets of suspected shabu, two converted caliber 22 rifles, one riffle scope, P3,300 cash money, one magazine assembly for caliber 45, five live ammunitions for caliber 45, one inside holster, four cellular phones, three tooter pipes, 10 lighters, and one foil strip.

The confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the court for proper disposition while the M26 fragmentation hand grenade was turned-over to Explosive and Ordnance Division. (Tita Roces /Nora Dominguez)
