Gov. Pogi prays for permanent police director
TO SUPPORT DUTERTE’S PLAN
LINGAYEN— His predecessor was not fortunate to have a permanent provincial police director to work with, so the new governor, Gov. Amado ‘Pogi’ Espino III is hoping that Pangasinan will finally have one during his term in order to be effective in accomplishing orders of the new President.
Gov. Espino, in an interview after his oath taking on Thursday (June 30) at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen, said he is even more optimistic it will happen because his father, the former Gov. Amado Espino Jr., is now a member of the House of Representatives.
He lamented that despite Pangasinan being the third most populous province in the country, and despite the Sangguniang Panlalawigan expressed its disappointment and disagreement over the continued appointment of only officer-in-charge provincial director in the province, it has not been given a permanent police provincial director since 2012.
Meanwhile, the new governor assured his full support to the programs of the Duterte administration, particularly the campaign against illegal drugs, enforcement of curfew for minors and liquor ban.
In his inaugural speech, the governor vowed to continue the “Espino brand of public service and governance.”
“Ang paghalal ninyo sa akin upang manungkulan sa susunod na gobernador, ay tanda ng inyong pagsang-ayon at kasiyahan sa mga nangyari dito sa ating mahal na Probinsya nitong nakalipas na siyam na taon. Ito rin ay tandang inyong kagustuhan upang ipagpatuloy natin ang mga kasalukuyang programang ating pamahalaan panlalawigan, bukod sa mga bagong adhikain na pwede pa natin idagdag,” he said.
The new governor said he will continue and innovate on the implemented programs on anti-crime drive, health, education, agriculture, livelihood and job generation, tourism, history and culture, and environment.
“Kung number one na tayo ngayon sa Region I, pwede rin siguro tayong mangarap na maging number one din sa buong bansa,” he quipped.
He urged his new and bigger constituents to work with him to achieve more for the province as he vowed to strengthen coordination with the local government units and other concerned agencies.
Prior his election as governor, Pogi served as councilor, mayor, barangay captain in the town of Bautista and was elected as the provincial president of the Liga ng mga Barangay.
Mr. Espino, Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr., and the new set of board members took their oath before President of the Philippine Judges Association–Pangasinan Chapter, Judge Hermogenes Fernandez.
The new members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan are Napoleon Fontelera, Jr. and Antonio Sison (first district), Raul Sison and Nestor Reyes (second), Angel Baniqued, Jr. and Generoso Tulagan, Jr. (third), Jeremy Agerico Rosario and Liberato Villegas (fourth), Chinky Perez-Tababa and Clemente Arboleda (fifth), Salvador Perez Jr. and Noel Bince (sixth).
