DOLE’s SPES helps poor students earn
THE Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), an employment bridging program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has helped disadvantaged youth here to earn income while studying.
Regional Director Grace Ursua of DOLE in the Ilocos said the SPES aims to assist poor but deserving students in completing their education through their employment during summer and/or Christmas vacations.
A report of DOLE in the Ilocos said that this year, some 5,284 students from poor families in the region were placed in local government units, educational institutions and private companies.
The labor agency allotted Php13.4 million for its 40 percent share in the beneficiaries’ salaries. (AMM_PIA Pangasinan)
