Disaster responders completed seminar on capacity building
LINGAYEN – Over 80 disaster responders of Sta. Barbara town underwent a four-day seminar-training on capacity building on disaster preparedness and response from June 22-25 to develop and strengthen their mechanisms in order to effectively address the challenges in disaster preparedness and response in their locality.
Raymundo Santos, municipal disaster risk reduction officer of Sta. Barbara, said the seminar sought to provide their rescuers, volunteers, police personnel and other disaster responders in their municipality the proper training on disaster preparedness and response.
Participants were given insights and exercises on first aid or basic life support, life-saving techniques, ropes and knot tying, water search and rescue techniques, rescue boat operation, basic emergency or disaster planning, introduction to flood and landslide incidents, and the Philippine disaster management system.
Participants also underwent mentoring on Project Noah that will serve as the early warning system to alert them and to know what are the things that they are going to do prior to the onset of a typhoon (EBS_PIA Pangasinan)
