Abrahano: “DDS does not exist”

DAGUPAN City Police Chief P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano declared on Thursday that the so-called “Dagupan Death Squad” or “DDS” does not exist”.

“There is no such thing as Dagupan Death Squad,” Abrahano pointed out during the KBP Forum. “Huwag ho tayong magpapaniwala diyan sa karatula kasimini-mislead ‘yung investigation,” he continued.

Abrahano emphasized that the police does not support or tolerate the “DDS” or any vigilante group. “Sasang-ayunan ko ‘yung sinabi ni Mayor Belen Fernandez that The police condemns these, he said, referring to killings by suspected drug personalities in the city by armed men who introduced themselves as “DDS”.

Six out of the 10 casualties who appeared to have been executed were rumored to have been perpetrated by supposed members of the “DDS”.

Abrahano assured that all killings are being thoroughly investigated.

Records of the police from July 1 to 28 showed that 429 drug personalities in Dagupan have already surrendered. These do not include yet the mass surrender of 81 drug personalities in Brgy. Lucao visited by policemen implementing Oplan Tokhang, Abrahano said.

To date, half of those in the priority list have already been arrested.

Abrahano admitted that he was surprised by the number of self-confessed drug pushers, users and who voluntarily surrendered since not all the surrenderees are on the watch list.

He said there are already more than 500 drug personalities in the watch list.

Meanwhile, Abrahano disclosed that the crime rate in the city last month (June) this year is lower by 30% compared to same period last year. (Serene Susara)
