200 trees planted on Arbor Day

OVER 200 tree seedlings were planted inside a subdivision in Barangay Bonuan Boquig in Dagupan City as part of the celebration of the International Arbor Day on June 26.

Seeds of cashew, atis and neem, donated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to the management of Palmas Verdes Residences were planted in line with the DENR’s Urban Forestry Program.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Leduina Co encouraged Pangasinenses to plant trees. “Where there are vacant spaces, we can always establish an urban forest,” she said. “One full-grown tree can support the oxygen needs of a family of six,” she added.

Tree seedlings are available at the DENR office and are freely given. (Nora Susara, Ojt)
