Public urged to continue to be vigilant against fire

INFANTA—The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) advised the public to continue to be alert and keep a close watch on possible causes of fire after two houses burned down in two different towns over the weekend.

In Malasiqui, a house owned by businessman Junee Perreras in Barangay Aliaga was razed by fire on June 4.

F/Insp. Lauro Untalan of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Malasiqui said the fire could have been caused by a short- circuit since the house’s electrical wirings were already ten years old. The estimated damage to property was is P700,000. Nobody was injured.

Meanwhile, in Infanta, a person with disability (PWD) was arrested for suspicion of arson for the fire that razed the house of Mario Montero who was out when the fire occurred.

Susan Mejos, a mute, was seen roaming around the house of Montero before the fire incident. The estimated damage to property was Php500, 000, but nobody was hurt.

The suspect is now under investigation by the BFP Arson investigators.
