GATE admin released P70-M for livelihood aid

Lingayen – The final batch of livelihood assistance program (LAP) distribution under the administration of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. concluded on a high note with the distribution of Php3.77 million to beneficiaries, said to be highest amount given among the 44 batches, which received the overall total amount of Php70.16 million.

The LAP, launched in October 13, 2008 during the first term of Gov. Espino, is designed to aid Pangasinenses on their livelihood ventures and entrepreneurial activities.

Aside from the distribution of LAP checks to the last batch beneficiaries with 25 groups, Gov. Espino also led the kick-off distribution of female buffalos, which is under the carabao protection program of the provincial government, to two farmer groups and 9 farmers during the ceremonial distribution of livelihood aid held at the Urduja House, here, on June 22.

Twelve female carabaos, turned-over to the recipients to aid them on their farming activities, were purchased by the provincial government to protect them, following provincial ordinance no. 170-2013 which regulates the sale or slaughter of female carabaos through the buy-back scheme.

Gov. Espino, who will assume his mandate as 5th district Representative this July, previously stated that flagship programs of his administration which include the LAP shall be sustained by the incoming administration of his son and namesake, Governor-elect “Pogi” Espino, III.

The fourth batch of LAP beneficiaries this year with 862 members involve: Kapisanan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) and other women organizations; Multi-Purpose Cooperatives (MPCs); farmers’ and irrigators’ groups; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) owners; and a goat raisers’ association.

LAP beneficiaries include: Dangley Loving Mothers’ Association (Dangley, Agno); Sitio Vallarta Women’s Association (Poblacion, Infanta); KALIPI Garrita Chapter (Garrita, Bani); San Pedro Multi-Purpose Association (San Pedro, Mabini); Centro Toma – Colayo Farmers’ Association (Centro Toma, Bani); Hacienda Women’s Association (Hacienda, Bugallon); Sonson Ongkit KALIPI Association (Sonson Ongkit, Mangatarem); BLP Farmers’ and Irrigators’ Association (Bantayan, Lingayen); Baloling KALIPI Women’s Association (Baloling, Mapandan); Aliaga Farmers’ Association – SWISA (Aliaga. Malasiqui); Hillside Farmers’ Association (Telbang, Bayambang); Lelemaan Credit Cooperative (Lelemaan, Manaoag); Alitaya, Gueguesangen, Amansabina Irrigators’ Association (Alitaya, Mapandan); Cablong KALIPI Association (Cablong, Pozorrubio); Cabulalaan KALIPI Association (Cabulalaan, Laoac); Nanbagatan KALIPI Association (Nanbagatan, Laoac); Nagkaisa Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Pob. West, Asingan); Solid Brotherhood MPC (Poblacion, Balungao); Organic Pares-Pares MPC (Camanggaan, San Nicolas); Golden Mountain MPC (Gonzalo, San Quintin); C2 Ambayoan Irrigators’ Association (Calaocan, San Nicolas) and Mt. Zion Evangelical Mission (San Joaquin, Balungao).

Other beneficiaries are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs): Marieta’s Prawns and Crabs Dealer (Gais-Guipe, Dasol); Almera’s Native Cakes (Poblacion, Binalonan) and Catuday Goat Raisers’ Association (Catuday, Bolinao).

Carabao recipients, on the other hand, include Palaming Farmers’ and Farm Workers’ Association and Samahan ng Maralitang Magsasaka ng Patalan, Inc. to include 9 more farmers.

Assisting Gov. Espino during the distribution were: Provincial Population Office (PPO) OIC Ellsworth Gonzales, PPO Consultant Luzviminda Muego, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emil Samson and Provincial Veterinarian Eric Jose Perez. /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
