Farmers get high-breed palay seedlings
DEPARTMENT of Agriculture (DA) started distributing seedlings to farmers in preparation for the planting season in Region 1.
DA-Region 1 Director Valentino Perdido said the distributions of high breed and certified seeds for the municipalities with budget allocation for seedlings in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.
DA is ready to supply seedlings for 60,000 hectares of rice fields in the region.
As Perdido assured the public enough buffer supply for palay seedlings, he advised farmers to plant early to avoid damages from flooding in the month of September and October due to the expected effect of La Nina phenomenon. (Nora Dominguez)
