Shabu-sniffing couple caught in the act
A COUPLE, both confirmed drug users, were caught by the police sniffing shabu inside their house on Herrero-Perez in Dagupan at around 10:45 p.m. of May 26 and were promptly arrested.
Intelligence operatives under the direct supervision of P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of police, arrested spouses Joseph Cruz, 32, and one Lovely Cruz, 29, both residents of the place, arrested them after they were caught in the act of sniffing illegal drugs and in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Their arrest was triggered by reports of concerned neighbors of the suspects to the police about the ongoing “shabu-session” of the couple.
Operatives who were immediately dispatched to verify the report found Joseph Cruz sniffing shabu in plain view of neighbors while his wife was seen holding an improvised aluminum tooter.
The scene prompted lawmen to barge inside the house to effect the arrest of the couple.
Confiscated from the possession of the spouses were one used aluminum foil strip, two improvised aluminum tooter, one piece of pencil case containing two pieces of open small plastic sachet containing shabu residue and two disposable lighters.
A case for violations of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared by the police against the suspects. (Leonardo Micua)
