SRP ON SCHOOL ITEMS

AS the opening of classes draw near, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has started monitoring prices of school items being sold in the market and warned all retailers in the province to follow the suggested retail prices (SRP) set by the government.

Peter Mangabat, provincial director of DTI-Pangasinan, said in support to the “Balik-Eskwela” program, the DTI has started monitoring prices of school supplies and other school items to ensure that the prices of the school items being sold are within the latest suggested retail prices (SRP).

Mangabat said prices of school supplies should not be 10 percent higher than the SRP set by the trade and industry department.

While the DTI monitoring team noted that so far the prevailing prices of school items are within the latest SRPs, the DTI will continue to make surprise visits on stores.

The prevailing prices of basic school supplies are: composition, writing, spiral notebook, P10.50; writing pad for grades one to four, P8.00 per pad; intermediate pad, P13.00 per pad; crayons, P12.00 per box with eight pieces; pencil, P6.00 per piece; and ball pen, P5.00 per piece.

DTI’s Diskwento Back-to-School sale is supported by CSI Supermarkets, Magic Supermarkets, Robinsons’ Place Pangasinan, National Bookstores, Nepo Mall Dagupan, Nepo Mart Alaminos, SM City Rosales, CB Mall Urdaneta, Magic Mall Urdaneta, and Unitop-Dagupan City. (VHS/EMBS_PIA Pangasinan)
