R1MC denies endorsement of food/drug supplement
REGION 1 Medical Center (R1MC) is not in the business of endorsing food or drug supplements, especially those not approved by Food and drug Administration.
This was stressed by the management of the R1MC amid reports that a certain hospital personnel has been visiting out-patients prescribing the use of a food supplement to accompany a rehabilitation therapy that R1MC has endorsed.
Dr. Elaine Rose Maralli, chief resident of the R1MC internal medicine, cited the case of one therapist who introduced himself as “Rene Dela Cruz” who allegedly went to the house of the patient and offered rehabilitation therapy and a drug supplement called ‘Maitong’ amounting to almost P2,000.
“He claimed he was endorsed by the R1MC, particularly by a resident physician,” she added.
Dr. Cesar Guico, chief of clinics, said the R1MC never sells or endorses such drugs or services and clarified that what the Center only endorses are the use of its rehabilitation clinic and FDA-approved generic medicines.
“Please do not buy those questionable drugs such as the Maitong supplement,” said Dr. Zaldy Guico, chief of medical professional staff. (Johanne R. Macob)
