Province’s 3 most wanted criminals arrested

LINGAYEN–While Pangasinenses took time off during the Holy Week, the provincial police intensified its operations against fugitives and collared three of the province’s most wanted persons for various crimes in their homes.

The series of operations were conducted since it is usually on special occasions like Holy Week that wanted persons, fleeing from the long arm of the law, usually return home to see their families.

Arrested on Holy Wednesday, early dawn in a manhunt operation in Ilocos Sur by joint elements of the Villasis Police Station, Pangasinan Public Safety Company (PPSC) and Burgos (Ilocos Sur) Police Station was Artemio Abrena, 54, the No. 1 Most Wanted Person in Villasis town.

Abrena, a resident of Barangay Puelay, was served an Alias Warrant of Arrest dated December 27, 2002 issued by RTC Judge. Teodorico Alfonso P. Bauzon of Branch 50 in Villasis, for the crime of murder with no bail bond recommended for his provisional liberty. He went into hiding for almost 14 years.

On Maundy Thursday, Reynaldo Laguit, 31, Pozorrubio town’s Number 1 most wanted person, also listed as No. 28 under the Oplan Lambat Sibat wanted list provincewide, was nabbed at his residence in an early dawn raid in Barangay Laoac.

According to P/Chief Inspector Ryan Manongdo, Pozorrubio police chief, the warrants of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Judges Tita Obinario of Branch 45 and RTC Judge Tita Villarin of Branch 46 were served.

These warrants are for the charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and theft.

Another top wanted person was arrested at his residence on Maundy Thursday early evening in Barangay Calbueg, Malasiqui by Intelligence personnel of the Malasiqui Police Station was Rodel Salazar, 42, who is facing a case of frustrated homicide and was tagged as No. 7 under the Focus Crime/Wanted List in Malasiqui town.

The Alias Warrant of arrest issued by Hermogenes C. Fernandez, presiding Judge, RTC, Branch 56, in San Carlos City dated January 15, 2014 was served on him.

On Good Friday, at about 1:15 a.m., Kristoffer Ray Milano. 23, of Barangay San Agustin, Iba, Zambales, an entertainer in the police watch list in Alaminos City, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Palamis, Alaminos.

One sachet of shabu with street value of P1,000, including the buy-bust money and a cell phone were seized by lawmen from the suspect. (Leonardo Micua)
