PDEA: No drugs in city jails

URDANETA CITY—The surprise inspection of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Urdaneta City Jail last week by the regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) yielded negative results.

Bismarck Bengwayan, PDEA Rgeion 1’s information officer, said the random inspections conducted on two city jails in Pangasinan showed that strict measures adopted have proven effective.

The BMP District jail in Dagupan City also yielded negative find of illegal drugs.

Project Greyhound is being undertaken in the region to prevent entry and use of illegal drugs in prisons.

“Mostly are sharp objects but not even one illegal drug substance found”, said Bengwayan.

He added, this activity will continue in all the jails in the entire region. (Hilda Austria)
