Guv to voters: Accept Cojuangcos’ cash dole out
EARLY VOTE-BUYING?
LINGAYEN— Governor Amado Espino Jr. told the Pangasinan voters to accept the money reportedly being distributed by his political opponents in return for the voter’s details.
“Tanggapin po ninyo ang mga perang ‘yan. Hindi po nila pera ‘yan, coconut levy at excise tax ‘yan,” remarked Espino reacting to reports of alleged massive vote buying in the province by the Cojuangco camp.
“…padagdagan niyo pa. Hindi po nila pinag-paguran ‘yan, ninakaw lang po ‘yan,” he added in during the ambush interview after the the opening of the Pista’y Dayat 2016 last April 22 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center.
The governor said he empathized with voters who had to line up under the intense heat of the sun just to get their share of the cash being doled out reportedly amounting to P800 by the camp of former Congressman Mark Cojuangco and his wife incumbent Fifth District Cong. Kimi Cojuangco.
“I heard that some even collapsed while lining up in the air field and hangar in Binalonan town,” said Espino.
Alleged vote buying activities, he said, have been happening in other towns as in Urdaneta City.
“Lantaran na ‘yong ginagawa nila, ang ayaw ko lang din ang pinang-susundo nilang sasakyan sa mga tao may tatak na “Espino-Calimlim,” he added, citing it as a desperate act.
Mark Cojuangco is running against the Governor’s son, Amado “Pogi” Espino III for governor while Cong. Kimi is running for her third term against Gov. Espino this 2016 election.
Meanwhile, the governor denied allegations presented in a video, now being circulated in the social media, that he and his family abused their power and used their positions to promote personal interests.
He vehemently denied the video report that claimed he took advantage of projects such as school repair, and piggery and poultry farms, among others as in the towns of Binmaley, Bugallon, and Bautista.
He said people can verify the implementation of the projects from proper authorities and that the awards received by the province are proofs that the services were fully delivered to the people.
Further, Espino denied having a hand in the survey conducted wherein he and his son got a wide margin against the Cojuangcos.
He advised his detractors to ask the survey firm instead.
“These are all happening because they would never believe that we would pursue this battle,” Espino quipped. (Johanne Macob)
