Urdaneta City’s stages 1st Kalamilk Festival

URDANETA CITY—After the successful staging of the week-long first Kalamilk (carabao milk) Festival that culminated with a city charter parade on Monday, it will be an official annual event in this city.

This was announced by the city government in reiterating its support for the local dairy industry.

Officials of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Cooperative Development Authority and the Department of Education (DepEd) signed a pledge of commitment to hold the festival annually.

The Kalamilk Festival, is a joint project of the city government of Urdaneta and the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC).

In a press statement of PCC, it stated “The City of Urdaneta renews its support to local dairy farmers through the launching of the 1st KALAMILK food festival as an avenue to promote carabao-based dairy products.”

In his welcome remarks, City Mayor Amadeo Gregorio E. Perez IV said the event was created to recognize the efforts of Urdaneta dairy farmers and to help establish its lead role in carabao milk production in the province.

A giant white cheese and fresh carabao’s milk were prepared for the guests and a milk feeding for day care pupils was held during the festival.
