FORMER COP, MURDER SUSPECT NABBED

ELEVEN drug peddlers, most of whom are in the drug watch list in Dagupan City were arrested by elements of the Dagupan Police this month and still counting.

This was accounted for by P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, Dagupan police chief, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH.

“We’re not letting up in the campaign,” intoned Abrahano.

Latest to be arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at Magsaysay Fishport on Reyes Street last March 17 at 11:30 a.m. was the suspect in the murder case in November 2 last year.

The suspect, Jayson Sibayan, 27, of Paras Street in Bonuan Gueset, tagged as No. 29 in the city’s drug watch list, was nabbed when he sold one sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman.

When frisked by lawmen, another sachet of shabu was seized from Sibayan whom police tagged as the gunman in the slaying of one Michael Ferrer Poquiz on Nov. 2, 2015.

He will be charged too for violation of the Comelec gun ban after lawmen also found a cal. 45 pistol in his possession.

Meanwhile, another top drug personality was arrested by the police on March 15 in Barangay Herrero at about 8:50 p.m.

The suspect, Arnold Caasi, 34, a notorious drug dealer, is a member of the Alikan Drug Group.

Elements of Team Alpha of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Dagupan City Police Station conducted the buy-bust operation against Caasi.

Confiscated from him was one small-sized heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance, suspected to be shabu with an estimated weight of 0.5 gram and marked money of P1,000.

The suspect and pieces of evidence seized from him were brought to PDEA La Union for documentation and proper disposition. A case for violation of Section 5 of Article II, RA 9165 were filed against the suspect.

Also arrested drug peddlers in other separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Dagupan Police this March were Jerry Mabanglo , 34, a former PNP member of San Carlos City nabbed at Tondaligan Park; Rafael  Lopez, 37, nabbed in  Caranglaan, Bryan Ballesteros, 33, nabbed at Barangay 2 and 3 on Nueva Street; Renato Gubatan, 28, of Maasin, Mangaldan, nabbed in front of the Iglesia ni Crstio (INC) chapel in Mamalingling;

Anthony Manipon Jr., 28, nabbed on Arellano Street; Dante Mejia, also a suspected theft from whom two sachets of shabu and a Cal. 5.56 bullet were seized; Dante Mejia, nabbed at Bonuan Blue Beach; Marvin Olibac, 30, of Liksi, Manaoag, who was arrested at the junction of Perez, Mayombo and Del Pilar Streets; and Edberto Millora and his live-in-partner Zenaida Ellan, 21 who were arrested in Herrero Perez.
