Retro-runner Bigay to join world championship

PHILIPPINES best retro-runner Alfonso “Jojo” Bigay of Lingayen will represent Philippines in the World Retro-Running Championship on July 14-17 at Essen, Germany.

Bigay, 47, with a personal best of 13.2 in the 100 meters sprint will also compete in the 200 and 400 meters and is expected to encounter stiff competition against the defending champion Roland Wegner of the host Germany and entries from North and South Africa, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Malaysia in Asia, Russia, England, Ukraine in Europe and also in America and Australia.

“I’m confident I can win a medal especially the 100 meters which is my forte,” said Bigay. “I trained hard for this event and this is for Pangasinan,” he added.

Bigay’s trip will be financed by Abono partylist chaired by Engr. Rosendo So. (JAG, Jr.)
