THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urged the public anew to regularly use the “Timbangan ng Bayan” or public weighing scales installed in wet markets in Pangasinan.

Provincial Director Peter Mangabat of DTI-Pangasinan said his agency had provided Pangasinan’s public markets with two weighing scales each with cages to protect consumers from unfair trade practices.

Mangabat encouraged consumers to use the weighing scales to validate the weight of their purchases and get the value for their hard-earned money. The weighing scales are regularly monitored by DTI to ensure that the units are functional and properly calibrated.

Local government units are advised visit the nearest office of the Department of Science and Technology in their area to ask for the calibration of their test weights and weighing scales. (AMM_PIA-Pangasinan)
