Capitol eyes location referencing system of roads
LINGAYEN- The provincial government wants its provincial road networks inventoried and made part of a location referencing system for easier road maintenance using information technology.
On Monday, the provincial board authorized Governor Amado Espino, Jr. to sign an agreement with the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Road Board to establish the provincial and city roads locational referencing system and conduct of road inventory.
The Road Board is a government agency acting as the supplemental source of funding for road maintenance of national and local roads.
The resolution, authored by Board Member Generoso Tulagan, said road referencing system and inventory would be beneficial to the province since it will obtain a consistent data of provincial and city roads in the province with the use of information technology.
The project will include the provision of Global Positioning System (GPS) road centerline and inventory data of all provincial and city roads.
Provincial Engineer Antonieta Delos Santos said the project which will be funded by the national government, is a system that can give the Road Board and other control authorities a view of the conditions of the provincial and city roads without visiting the area. (EBS_PIA-Pangasinan)
