LINGAYEN –Who said it only happens at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City?

The Lingayen police is set to conduct full-dress investigation to find out how three-heat sealed plastic sachets of shabu managed to be slipped through inside the Pangasinan Provincial Jail here.

This after a provincial jail guard found the illegal drugs in the cell of Norvhy Anayanayo, 25, during a routine inspection at about 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 23.

This was not the first time, however, that shabu was found inside the provincial jail.

Anayanayo is detained at the provincial jail while awaiting trial of his two cases for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (illegal drug possession). And, if it is determined that he owned the three heat-sealed sachets of shabu found in his cell, he is in for more trouble.

Provincial Jail Officer 1 Marvin Zara, 46, a native of San Miguel, Calasiao, who found the stuff in the possession of Anayanayo, personally appeared before the Lingayen Police Station at 3:00 p.m. that day to report the incident.

Meanwhile, the Urdaneta City police netted a prized catch when they nabbed one of the top 10 drug personalities in a drug buy-bust operation on Feb. 23 at about 3:00 p.m. at Dona Trining Village, Zone 1 in Camantiles, Urdaneta City.

The operation was conducted by elements of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) in coordination with PDEA Region 1, San Fernando City La Union.

The suspect was identified as Tito Gabiola Sr., 54, listed as a member of the notorious Kadi Omar Group wanted under Coplan “Mulawin”. Arrested with him was his relative identified as Rico Gabiola, 18.

Nine sachets containing crystalline substance called shabu, one marked P500 bill and a coin purse were seized from the Gabiolas.

Cases of Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs and Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs are now being prepared against the two suspects.

In Dagupan City, a mini-bus barker and a transgender beautician were arrested by police patrollers implementing Oplan “Sita” on Arellano Street at 11:40 a.m. of Feb. 23.

Two heat-sealed plastic sachets were seized by lawmen from Teodorico Gardoce, 50, of Sitio Kamanggaan, Mayombo; and Richard Mercado, 27, of Bari, Mangaldan.

The two were sighted by PO1 Bryan Fernandez and PO1 Ariel Mar Soriano who were on patrol on a motorcycle, coming out from Sitio Aling, Arellano, a drug hot spot in Dagupan. As the police officers approached the two, they saw Gardoce quickly threw something on the pavement.

This prompted PO1 Fernandez to alight from his motorcycle approached Gardoce and picked up the sachet to verify its content. After ascertaining that it was shabu, Soriano held on Mercado and in whose possession was found another heat -sealed plastic sachet containing shabu.

The two were promptly arrested after being informed of their rights and were brought to Region 1 Medical Center for medical examination before they were turned over to the duty investigator of the police station for further investigation.

The confiscated shabu had now been submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Lingayen for laboratory examination. A case for violation of Sec 11 of RA 9165 is now being readied for filing in court against the suspects. (Leonardo Micua)
