POZORRUBIO—Saddened by four deaths of young victims due to road accidents here in January, the police and the pastors and ministers of Pozorrubio Evangelical Ministers Movement led some 120 residents in a “prayer walk” on February 4.

P/Chief Inspector Ryan Manongdo, town police chief, cited the four deaths and two severely injured caused by vehicular accidents from December 26 to January 25 of this year alone.

“We were saddened by the figures considering our town is just small so we came up with this activity”, said Manongdo.

The participants proceeded to three locations to the boundaries of the town in Barangay Batakil (Sison), Barangay Rosario (Binalonan) and Barangay Dilan (Manaoag).

“The purpose was to be united in prayers for the safety of the motorists, pedestrians and travellers,” Manongdo said.

He added, “It was just prayer to the Great Architect Of The Universe on our desire that these untimely deaths of Pozorrubians be stopped.”

The fatalities in these road accidents who were all from this town were Martin Christopher Ober, 21, Oscar dela Rosa, 17, both residents of Manaol, Jeffrey Diso, 20, and Michael Corpuz y Silaroy, 24, residents of Barangay Palacpalac.

“I pity the victims, they were too young. In statistics involving motor vehicle accidents, this is the age bracket of casualties and nobody is doing anything. As if it’s normal and okay that these people died,” Manongdo said.

The occasion also marked the launching of the Safe and Fair Election (SAFE) 2016 campaign of the Pozorrubio police. (Tita Roces/ Hilda Austria)
