6 nabbed for drugs in Dagupan

SIX persons were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Dagupan City Police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on February 18 in Barangay Mangin in the city.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of police, told The PUNCH that the first to be arrested was Amador Babiano, alias Hadjie”, 38 who transacted with an intelligence agent who posed to buy shabu worth P300.

When Babiano, a suspected motorcycle theft, came out of his shanty to give the stuff to the poseur-buyer, lawmen immediately grabbed him. However, he was able to free himself and ran back inside his shanty, where the five other persons were conducting pot session.

The five, Nicky Siwani, 25, Melecio Malawit, 28, and Arman Calmirin, 38, all of Bolosan, Dagupan city; and Antonio Marquez, 38, and Danilo Cuero, 37, both of Sta. Barbara were arrested as well.

Recovered from the possession of Babiano was one small black pouch that contained five pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, one Caliber 45 pistol loaded with one magazine containing four live ammunition, two empty fired cartridges of Caliber 45 pistol , one plastic grenade; one hand-held radio; and one police badge placed inside a pouch.

Recovered from Sewani and his other companions were one weighing scale, two pieces used aluminum foil strip containing shabu residue, one pouch and other drug-paraphernalia.

Sawani and his companions will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (illegal drugs).

Meanwhile, cases for violation of Article II Sec 13 and Sec 14 and violation of RA 9165, as well as RA 10591 (illegal possession of firearm) is now being readied against Babiano. (Leonardo Micua)
