Vendor selling banned repacked “piccolo” nabbed

A VENDOR was evicted from the firecracker lane on Burgos Street in Dagupan City before New Year after the police found her selling the banned “piccolo” firecracker placed in different packs in a bid to conceal them from lawmen.

Delia Perez of Barangay Maningding, Sta. Barbara, was arrested by policemen led by P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, police chief, during a random inspection of her firecracker items for sale on Stall No. 15.

Found in her stall were re-labeled packs that contained “piccolo. ”

Consequently, her permit to sell firecracker which she obtained from Camp Crame was revoked and a case for violation of Republic Act No. 7183 was filed against her.

Meanwhile in San Carlos City, policemen who implemented “One-Time Kontra Bawi Paputok (OTKBP)”, seized 48 baby rockets, 17 fountain fireworks were seized from vendors along the firecracker zone on Roxas Street at 9:20 a.m. of Dec. 30.

Assorted firecrackers were also seized by the police with the help of the Bureau of Fire Protection at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p,m. on Dec. 30  from vendors along Garcia street in Poblacion, Manaoag.

The operations were conducted by the police in connection with the crackdown on all illegal firecrackers to make the New Year a little safer. (Leonardo Micua)
