SIX police chiefs in six towns in Pangasinan will be pulled out from their posts in preparation for the coming elections.

P/Superintendent Ferdinand de Asis, provincial police spokesman, told local newsmen Thursday that affected will be police chiefs who had been assigned in their respective areas for two years or are serving in an officer-in-charge capacity.

To be affected by the revamp are the police chiefs of the towns of Umingan, Mangaldan, Manaoag, Villasis, Sison and Sual.

De Asis added it still not certain what their next assignments will be.

Their recommended replacements will be named in a shortlist that will be submitted to the mayors who will make the final selection.

During election period from Jan. 10 to June 30, police chiefs may also be replaced but already under the approval of the Commission on Elections, he added.

Meanwhile, De Asis said the number of policemen in Pangasinan is still enough to secure peace and order.

“No need yet for augmentation of police force at this time. We have the support of Provincial Public Safety Company, Regional Police Service Battalion and Special Action Force,” he added. (Tita Roces)
