More awards highlight Pangasinan’s yearend rites

LINGAYEN – The year 2015 ended with a “big bang” for the province as it received another string of prestigious awards, highlighting Pangasinan’s year-end celebration.
Already honored with major national and regional awards throughout the year, the province was a recent recipient of the 2015 Gawad Pasasalamat sa mga Kabalikat sa Pangisdaan from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; National Champion, Best Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) 1st class province category; Best Tourism Event Festival; Agri-Pinoy Rice Achiever Award; Gawad Kalasag Exceptional DRRM Service Award for the province’s support in Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Rehabilitation.
The provincial leadership under Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. said “…such awards are but icing in the cake, for the true rewards lie in the tangible and fresh opportunities that had been worked out for the people in terms of more productivity, the foundation laid out for a brighter future and the pursuit of clear objectives of growth, that had regained for the province the status as one of the premier provinces of the country.”
The awards and recognitions received by the province from 2008 to 2015 after Gov. Espino assumed the governorship in 2007 also bespoke of a strong political will and creative management that had established Pangasinan as one of the best places to live, invest and raise a family.
Awards after awards kept coming during the past eight years, catapulting Pangasinan into the Hall of Fame of various levels of governance and fields of endeavor..
The Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO) also received international recognition after it was awarded a Plaque of Recognition in 2011 for its exemplary commitment and active participation in the Implementation of the Revised Pharmacy DOTS Initiative. PHO also received a Certificate of Appreciation in 2010 from the United States Agency International Development (USAID) in Nutrition.
In 2014, Pangasinan was Most Outstanding Province in the Agri Pinoy Quality Corn Achievers; Champion in protecting Carabao granted by Philippine Carabao Center; Most Outstanding LGU in support to the Credit Surety Fund to name a few.
The province was also a consistent recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping and more other awards for the development efforts that have been carried out successfully to perk up this province which for sometime has been erased in the maps and a sleeping giant. /ADV
