GATE awards Livelihood Aid to 1st batch of beneficiaries this 2016

Lingayen – Governor Amado T. Espino (GATE), Jr., assisted by Board Members Danilo Uy, Generoso Tulagan and Amado “Pogi” Espino, III, Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President, awarded Php3-M worth of livelihood cheques to the first batch of LAP beneficiaries this year which includes 16 associations and cooperatives, four micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and one group engaged in goat production during a distribution ceremony held on January 13 at the Ceremonial Hall of Urduja House, here.
Since 2007 when Gov. Espino assumed as provincial chief executive, nearly Php 62 million (Php 61,662,650) was released by the provincial government to sustain the livelihood assistance project, broken down as follows: Php54.6 million (associations and cooperatives), Php 5 million (MSMEs) and Php 1.9 million (goat production project).

Livelihood grant beneficiaries, mostly farmer associations, Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) and other women groups mainly engage in farm inputs, commodity trading and re-lending projects.
This year’s first batch of beneficiaries include: San Quintin OFW Family Association, Capitan Tomas Multi Purpose Cooperative (Rosales), Holy Seed Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Balungao), Eastern Binalonan Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Volunteer Probation Aide Association Inc. of Pangasinan District 5 (Urdaneta City), San Felipe Central Women’s Association (Binalonan), Blessed Barangobong Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Vilasis), Great David Farmers Irrigators’ Association Inc. (Mangaldan), Agat KALIPI Association (Sison), Inmalog Sur KALIPI Women’s Association (San Fabian), Dalongue IA Credit Cooperative (Sta. Barbara), Torres KALIPI Association (Mapandan), Ataynan Farmers Association (Bayambang), Dusoc Women’s Association (Bayambang), Buer Rural Women’s Association (Aguilar) and Dasol Market Vendors Association.
Beneficiaries from MSMEs, on the other hand, are: Cluie’s Needlecraft in Umingan (production of school uniforms and t-shirts), Greenfarm Agricultural Poultry Products in Asingan (duck-raising and salted egg production), Home Point Furniture in Binmaley (home furniture making); CBB Salt Producer in Infanta (salt processing) and Goat Raisers Association of Basista. /MGNOblanca
