Cop shot dead in Infanta town

LINGAYEN— One day after the total gun ban imposed by the Commission on Election went into effect, a police officer was shot to death by still unidentified suspects in Infanta town, on Monday, January 11, night.

The Pangasinan Provincial Police Office identified the victim as PO3 Steve Lacap, 35, the investigator of Infanta Police Station (IPS), and a resident of the town.

After receiving a call about a shooting incident, the responding team, led by P/Inspector Gilbert Villamor, found Lacap lying on the ground beside his motorcycle along the barangay road in Sitio Nambalan with gunshot wound in the head.

He was brought to a nearby rural health unit but was declared dead on arrival.

PO2 Marvin Bucat, investigator on case, said Lacap was on his way from his farm in Sitio Nambalan to the police station to report for duty when he was shot.

Investigators recovered one empty shell of still undetermined firearm at the crime scene.
