3 drug pushers nabbed for gun ban violation
THREE persons in Pangasinan, two of them from Dagupan, initially arrested for drug peddling, were also arrested for violation of the election gun ban since it went into effect on January 10, according to records of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO)
All three were arrested for possessing handguns in separate police buy-bust drug operations when frisked by arresting lawmen.
Arrested in a buy-bust operation in Poblacion, Basista town at 12:10 a.m. of Jan.10 was Alexander Sandiego, 32, of Maharlika in Taguig City but residing in Bani, Bayambang who was found in possession of a Smith and Wesson Cal. 38 revolver with two live ammunition.
Seized from him, too, were two sachets of shabu which he sold to a police undercover and the P500 marked money. His motorcycle was also seized.
Arrested at 11:30 p.m. of Jan. 11 on Amado-Tapuac Road in Dagupan was Julius Bautista, 38, an ex-convict who sold P200 worth of shabu to a confidential agent. When frisked, he was found carrying a Cal. 38 revolver with three ammunition in its chamber.
Bautista was sentenced by the Regional Trial Court Branch 43 in Dagupan in 2001 for robbery. After his release in March 2014 from the Zamboanga Penal Colony where he was confined for 14 years, he returned to Dagupan and became a drug dealer.
Armando Ramos, 34, a boatman of Riverside, Pantal District, was arrested 6:30 pm of January 13 , at Novo, Fernandez St. by elements of the Dagupan City Police Station
by virtue of a warrant of arrest docketed under Criminal Case No. 2014-0046-D for violation of Article II,Sec. 5 of Republic 9165 (Drug Pushing), issued on May 13, 2014 issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Florentino Dumlao.
No bail was recommended by the judge for his provisional liberty.
When searched, Ramos yielded three heat- sealed plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride called shabu, one cal .22 homemade revolver loaded with four live ammunition and another four live ammunition of the same caliber.
All the suspects are now facing charges for violation of Article II, Sec 11 of RA 9165, RA 10591 and violation of Commission on Elections Resolution No. 33 that imposed gun ban through out the country. (Leonardo Micua)
