THE Medical City (TMC) network of hospitals recently unveiled its plans for the renovation and expansion of the TMC Pangasinan.

TMC Pangasinan chief executive officer (CEO), Dr. Alfonso Bengzon said among the plans include the addition of one floor in addition to the existing four-storey building, and will be the first hospital in Pangasinan to have elevators; the emergency room will be “twice its size” and doctors’ clinics will be put up at an adjacent area previously occupied by an elementary school.

“More than the upgrading of services and equipment, we are also changing the mindset of our staff. We are training our staff to enable them to give the kind of care that The Medical City is known for, one that gives importance to patient partnership and one that puts patient on center stage,” he added.

The hospital is set to introduce its wellness center, physical and rehabilitation center, diabetes center, eye center, dialysis unit, cardio pulmonary unit, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Renovation and construction of the TMC Pangasinan are expected to be completed in 2017.

TMC Pangasinan, formerly known as University of Pangasinan Medical Center (UPMC), is presently a tertiary type hospital with a 70-bed capacity and 50 doctor’s clinics.

Originally owned by doctors based in Dagupan City, UPMC was formerly called Pangasinan Medical Center which opened on January 1, 1972. PHINMA took over as owners of the hospital in 2009 and renamed it as UPMC.

TMC then acquired UPMC in May 2015. (Johanne Macob)
