R1MC, PPH ready for firecracker victims
THE Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) and the Pangasinan Provincial Office (PPH), including its latter’s satellite hospitals, are ready to receive and treat persons who suffer burns or lose fingers from firecracker explosions during the New Year revelry.
This was assured by R1MC and PPH officials even as firecracker zones are being established by different local governments to regulate activities of vendors who have secured permits from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
However, up until Dec. 25, only three vendors have so far occupied the firecracker zone by the sidewalk in front of Burgos Street in Dagupan City.
Vendors admitted that the sale of firecrackers this year so far has been slow compared to last year but hinted that revelers may simply be putting off buying the local and imported firecrackers till Dec 31.
Firecrackers in Dagupan are being supplied traditionally by manufacturers of firecrackers in Barangays Pogo Grande and Lasip Grande, and are being watched closely by the police and BFP.
Meanwhile, Dr. Karlo Marco Orduna, chief of clinic of the PPH, advised people blasted by firecrackers to first wash their injured body parts with soap and water and wrap it with clean cloth before going to the hospital. (Leonardo Micua)
