LINGAYEN—Pangasinan residents can begin to file their applications for passports at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Regional Consular Office (RCO) in the province, located at the second floor of Robinson’s Place in Calasiao.

Jennifer Catherine Gapuz, officer-in-charge of the DFA-RCO in Pangasinan said the new consular and diplomatic office now processes 60 passports daily during its soft opening stage and is expected to increase to 250 applications in the weeks ahead.

Each passport costs P950.

According to Board Member Ranjit Shahani, chairman of the provincial board’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and OFWs, the formal opening of the DFA-RCO Pangasinan will be next month.

Governor Amado Espino Jr., the entire provincial board, ex-president Fidel Ramos, DFA executives, and other dignitaries are expected to grace the formal opening.

“The DFA Consular Office in Pangasinan covers 60% of Region 1 because 60% of Region 1 is from Pangasinan,” remarked Shahani.

The Pangasinan DFA office is the first provincial consular office in the country.

The services of the DFA satellite office includes the issuance of new passports, renewal of expired passports, replacement of lost, expired or mutilated passports and authentication of other related documents. (Johanne Macob)
