30-MINUTE PROCESSING

THE Fernandez administration in Dagupan City recognized that the biggest obstacle to a growing economy is red tape, so it launched a three-step to do away with it for good.

The One Stop Business Center (OSBC) of Dagupan City announced that it further streamlined the processing of business permit with its three-step processing system dubbed as BTF – B for business application filing, T for taxes and fees payment, and F for fetch/claim business permit.

OSBC manager Randolf Ubando said the city’s BTF is a simplified business processing system which will take a taxpayer only 30 minutes to secure a business permit.

Department of Interior and Local Government City Director Rhoderick Dawis lauded the launching of the BTF which he said is in line with the DILG’s Regulatory Simplification for Local Government (RS4LG) to further cut red tape for people starting a business.

“This is making a business process simpler and efficient by keeping only the essential steps in the process,” Dawis said. “At the same time, it helps the LGU uphold its mandate of protecting public health, safety and general welfare of its constituents,” he added.

Dagupan was one of the 48 cities in the country capacitated by the Local Government Academy (LGA) in 2014. As of 2015, there are already 96 cities involved in RS4LG.

Ranked 44th in 2014, the city jumped to 19th place as the most competitive city in the National Competitiveness Council this year.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez gave the OSBC a pat on the back for making the city a globally competitive business center in the North. (JCB/CIO)
