BM Espino, VG Calimlim distribute cash aid to families of typhoon victims casualties, CWDs

Board Member and Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. led the distribution of Php200,000 – worth of financial assistance to 14 families who suffered from typhoon Lando’s onslaught last October, and to 12 Children With Disabilities (CWDs) who are enrolled at the Special Education (SPED) Center in Bautista Elementary School.

BM Espino, who represented Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. during the distribution program held at the Crisis Intervention Center of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on December 7, 2015 said cash assistance which forms part of the province’s rehabilitation program on the damages, manifests “the provincial government’s care, love and sympathy to the bereaved families.”

“The amount might be minimal, but this is a way of saying that the provincial government is always here for you,” BM Espino stressed to the beneficiaries.

Vice Governor Calimlim, on the other hand, said: “We have to thank God because hope springs amidst all adversities in life and unprecedented environmental occurences.” “Lagi din na nandito ang pamahalaang panlalawigan na nagpapahalaga at handang tumulong sa inyo,” he added.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emil Samson, reported that P140,000 cash was distributed among the towns of Mangatarem, Bolinao, Bani, Agno, Mabini and Bugallon with beneficiaries receiving P10,000 each.

Reported casualties were: Mauro Muerong (Pampano, Mangatarem); Francisca Batobato (Malabobo, Mangatarem); Jan Kerby Capena (Ilog Malino, Bolinao); Clarita Ramos Garcia (San Roque, Bolinao); Cristina Veloria (Garrita, Bani); Sixto Veloria (Garrita, Bani), Susana Cabana (Garrita, Bani); Trisha Cabana (Garrita, Bani); Francisco Viray, Jr. (Pob. East, Agno); Beatriz Balucan (Cayungan, Agno); Paola Tawatao (Calzada, Mabini); Samuel Bontig (Calzada, Mabini); Magdalena Manaoat (Beuenlag, Bugallon) and Artemio Mendoza (Garrita, Bani).

The financial assistance extended to CWDs totalling to P60,000 will be utilized for medical treatment and purchase of eyeglasses for the visually and hearing impaired.   The fund also augments expenses on possible enrolment on tailoring course at area vocational rehabilitation center (AVRC).

CWD beneficiaries who each received Php5,000 cash aid include: Jamayca Guntang (Langiran, Bayambang); Aira Joy Pagsolingan (Pob., Basista); Ronald Abellera (Osmena, Basista); Arlene Seguin (Palma, Basista); Sonia Malicdem (Balaybuaya, Bayambang); Alma Ferrer (Balaybuaya, Bayambang); Benjie Patungan (Navatat, Basista); Miguelito Soriano (Malimpuec, Basista); Jolas Valdez (Obong, Basista); Andrew Frias (Navatat, Basista); Bobong Mendoza (Navatat, Basista) and Ernesto Martillan, Jr. (Pob., Basista). /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
