51 drug personalities nabbed

LINGAYEN— While the rest of the nation was celebrating “Bonifacio Day” last November 30, the provincial police here marked the event with simultaneous anti-criminality operations.

Some 51 suspected drug personalities with a total of 63 sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were seized in the morning of Nov. 30. Among those captured are top drug personalities in different towns. 

“We highlighted the national holiday with the Oplan Huli Day and Arrest Day,” remarked Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Rolie Saltat.

The series of arrests and confiscations were through buy bust operations and implementation of 16 search warrants for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and 12 search warrants for violation of Republic Act 1059 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms & Ammunition.

CARTOONnews 151206“Oplan Huli Day” and “Arrest Day” were part of the “one-time, big-time,” operation of the PPPO which seeks to capture of those involved in illegal drugs and loose firearms in different towns during weekends.

In Dasol, operatives of the Dasol Police Station led by P/Sr. Insp. Rolando Bruan arrested the town’s no. 1 drug personality, Frederick Soriano. The implementation of search warrant against the suspect also resulted in the confiscation of one heat sealed plastic sachet containing shabu and other drug paraphernalia in his possession.

The top 7 drug personality in the town of Bautista, Allan Paul Alejandro, was captured in a buy bust operation.

In Rosales, Erickson Fabrigas, one of the town’s top ten drug personalities, was nabbed through a search warrant implementation at his house in Barangay Rabago. The operation supervised by P/Chief Insp. William Nerona, resulted in the confiscation of six pieces heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and a Magnum Cal.22 with three live ammunitions and one fired cartridge case inside the firearm cylinder.

In Mangaldan, Ryan Cariño, No. 35 drug personality in the town’s watch list, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Embarcadero, supervised by police chief P/Supt. Jackie Candelario.

In Sison, police arrested Jojo Legaspi, included in the town’s watch list, through a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tara-Tara.

In Asingan, a buy-bust operation and simultaneous implementation of search warrants led to the arrest of John Glenn Ferrer and Antonio Sebastian and seizure of eight plastic sachets containing shabu. According to the town’s chief of police, P/Chief Insp. Charlie Angya-on, the two are well-known illegal drug personalities operating in Asingan and nearby municipalities.

However, in Mangatarem, the no. 1 drug personality, Raniloc Prestoza, managed to escape before the police could serve the search warrant. Seized from his residence were four heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu and one magazine assembly of caliber .45 loaded with four live ammunitions.

Saltat said a total of 17 assorted loose firearms, two hand grenades, and ammunitions of different caliber were confiscated on the said date.

The unlicensed firearms were confiscated in the towns of Urbiztondo, Aguilar, Dasol, Anda, San Nicolas, Rosales, Binmaley, Pozorrubio, Urdaneta City, Mangatarem, Mabini, Mangaldan, Infanta, Bautista, Sual, Sison, Sta. Maria, San Manuel, Bugallon, Asingan and Dagupan City. (Johanne Macob)
