PNP, DPWH, LTO on alert for “Undas”
THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Land Transportation Office (LTO) as well as the Philippine National Police (PNP) and their force multipliers had their hands full preparing for the observance of “Undas” in Pangasinan.
Pangasinan Provincial Police Office said the police has been on alert since October 28 and will remain in that status until November 2 to help implement “Oplan Lakbay Alalay”/Ligtas Byahe in all national highways in the province to ensure free flow of vehicles, while the DPWH have been instructed to remove all obstacles along the highway.
The PNP personnel have also been assigned to watch cemeteries on a 24-hour basis
DPWH officials in the province said groups operating for Oplan Lakbay have been assigned one mechanic to assist stalled vehicles while other groups have been posted on all roads and bridges to provide directions to motorists.
DPWH teams are stationed at the exit of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway in Urdaneta City as they cannot operate within the expressway, which is under the jurisdiction of its management.
The land Transportation Office (LTO) said its personnel have been conducting random inspection in all bus terminals to check on drivers’ fitness and buses’ worthiness to travel. (Leonardo Micua)
