PMA alumnus elected PB-USA President

   LOS ANGELES, California — A 1972 graduate of the Philippine Military Academy was recently elected president of the 57-year old association, Pangasinan Brotherhood-USA.

    Lino Caringal Jr was unanimously elected by the 11 members of the board who were earlier elected by the general membership. He succeeds Eddie M Ferrer

    The son of two retired Department of Education officials based in Pangasinan, the 56-year old Caringal is the current president of the The Global Urdanetatians and former president of the Original Urdanetatians

    The young Caringal who finished his secondary education at the Urdaneta Community High School, now the Urdaneta National HS, is the son of former UNHS Principal Lino A Caringal Sr and former Pangasinan Division Supervisor Soledad Caringal.

    Other elected officers are Nieves Coquia, former president of Dagupan City Club of Southern California, chairperson of the board; Mellie Soriano, past president of Bayambang Association of SP, vice-chairperson and Lina Cabal, incumbent president of Alaminos Association of SC, board secretary.

    Other members of the board are Esmeralda Ceralde and Ferrer, Dagupan City; Neil Estrada, Calasiao; Bong Soriano, Bayambang; Eliseo Turingan, Sual, Arsenio Valencerina, Bugallon and Rhenee M Ferrer, San Carlos City.

    The incoming president will appoint the association’s executive officers and cabinet members.

    A true-blooded Urdanetatian, the president-elect pledged to continue the mission, vision and programs of the PB-USA that have been existing since its inception for almost four decades.

    According to PB-USA past president Dan E Nino, the association is in the forefront of providing meaningful projects that impacted its community in California and Pangasinan.

    The Mangatarem lad mentioned the grant of scholarship to academically endowed but financially strapped college students, three Gawad-Kalinga housing units in Villasis and livelihood programs in Pangasinan.

    Nino also mentioned the display of Pangasinan produce during the Trade Expo and Diversity Street Festival held at the City of Artesia where Gov Amado T Espino Sr, Vice-Gov Ferdinand Z Calimlim Jr, some members of the provincial board and their staff lend their moral support.
