IF the October 22 raid of a drug den in Sitio Silungan in Barangay Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan City that netted 17 suspected drug peddlers and seized P2 million worth of shabu gave the impression that finally the illegal drug trading in the area had ceased, it was not to be.

More continue to be arrested in the area for drug peddling.

Based on recent reports from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Barangay Bonuan Binloc, continues to be the source of illegal drugs being distributed to many barangays in Dagupan City and many other towns in Pangasinan.

The latest to be arrested by operatives of the Dagupan City Police while buying shabu in Sitio Silungan was a couple from Binmaley. Unfortunately for the police operatives, the drug peddler managed to scamper away before the police could get to him.

Arrested were Albert Dizon, 37, and his live-in partner Maria Ruth Bandong, 27, both Baranga Balogo, Binmaley.

Recovered from Dizon were three pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu while recovered from Bandong were two pieces of a heat-sealed plastic sachet also containing shabu.

Both suspects were brought to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City for medico-legal examination and later lodged in jail while the confiscated items were submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Lingayen for examination.

Cases for violation of Article 11, Sec 11 of Republic Act 9165 have been filed against the suspects. (Leonardo Micua)
