Cojuangco backs campaign vs illegal drugs in Sta. Barbara

FORMER Pangasinan Fifth District Rep. Mark Cojuangco joined officials of Sta. Barbara on stage led by Dr. Juan Emmanuel Cabangon, the town vice mayor, and their teammates and supporters in an all-out war against illegal drugs.

The event dubbed as “Wow! Sta. Barbara Galit sa Droga” was under the auspices of Guardians Sta. Barbara I cooperation with Stylin Concepts held on Nov. 14.

Cojuangco lauded their efforts and vowed to help again in their efforts for similar causes. About 20 schools joined the event in the poster-making contest which Cojuangco and Macanlalay supported. He said musical talents showcased in the event whose vision is also to engage the youth in productive activities also has his ready backing.

Cojuangco, joined by Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay, enjoined all residents and stakeholders in Sta. Barbara to take active role to stop the proliferation of illegal drug pushing and use and make the town a safe and peaceful place to live in.

He pointed out that projects being implemented and prepared for the people, especially the youth, would be meaningless if drug abuse is not curbed.

“Kapag ang kabataan ay hindi natin napigilan na mag-droga, wasak po ang kanilang buhay,” he said.

He added that many lives have been shattered, ambitions destroyed and families broken due to illegal drugs.

Cojuangco lauded the efforts made by the event organizers in awakening the people to join forces in combating the drug menace in their community.

He said local and barangay officials as well as law enforcers cannot do alone the fight the big challenge posed by illegal substance abuse as everyone in the barangays, whether young and old alike, must be vigilant and do their share in their collective efforts to stop the problem. 

Cojuangco said he shares the vision of his kabaleyan, district-mate and esteemed Pangasinense, Secretary Antonio “Bebot” Villar Jr., secretary of Dangerous Drugs Board, in having a drug-free Pangasinan and drug-free Philippines.
