AFTER ruling Legs 3 and 4 of the 6th Speedo G-League Short Course Swim Series in Baliwag, Bulacan on November 14-15, fifteen swimmers of the Balon Dagupan Swimming Club (BDSC) have been tapped to train further for the national competition on December 11 to 14 in Manila.

Finnela Sim of the Dagupan City Sports Commission said Dagupan will be represented by the 15.

“We are glad that 15 of our swimmers made it in the national finals from 5 to nothing in the past. This is the fruit of our labor in looking after the training and progress of our swimmers from the time we organized the BDSC under the leadership of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and the DCSC,” said Sim.

From Leg 1 to 4, the BDSC’s total gold medal harvest is 125, plus 60 silver and 79 bronze medals putting the team on top in the boys and combined team divisions while placing third in the girl’s team division.

The BDSC swimmers who earned the most number of gold medals were Rianna Casipit with 20 gold; Janelle Lin, 19; Carlo Rioflorido, 16; Reuben Casipit and Joyven Espanillo, 14; Marko Rioflorido, 13; and Paulo Rioflorido, 8.

Mayor Fernandez said she was inspired by the performance of the BDSC swimming team that ended up as the overall champion in the CNL G-League and Fin Swim Competition.

“I am proud of your achievements and rest assured that I will always be here to support you in all your competitions. I also commend the efforts of the Dagupan City Sports Commission for successfully raising and training our champions,” said Fernandez. (CIO)
