Pensioners in Malasiqui receive P3,000
MALASIQUI—Some 1,766 senior citizens will receive P3,000 from the Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) under the social pension program on Friday.
Sofronio Domantay, president of the Municipal Federation of Senior Citizens Affair (MFSCA) said the amount is part of their pension for the third and last quarter of the year.
“Malasiqui has the highest number of social pensioners in the entire region one because we comply with the requirements “, said Domantay.
Aside from the 1,766, some 287 senior citizens will also receive P6,000 in the following weeks as their social pension for this year.
“Some 40 slots in other towns and cities that were not filled were given to our town as we are performance-oriented”, Domantay explained.
Furthermore, as a celebration of the National Elderly Month Week, the town conducted “Elderly Day” last October 11 joined in by 1, 568 senior citizens and old-aged.
Domantay said the whole-day affair featured the discussion on the rights of the elderly particularly the Republic Act 10645 otherwise known as the Mandatory PhilHealth Coverage of the Senior Citizens.
He said more than 90% of the total 8,266 senior citizens in the town were enrolled in PhilHealth based from this law.
Raffle prizes and other fun-filled activities were held during their celebration.
“We honor and give respect to our seniors as they are the treasures of this town, even when we are not yet around they are already preparing a brighter future for the next generations, and we can learn a lot from them especially the good values,” said Mayor Armando Domantay Sr. (Hilda Austria)
